Profile

The production technology in Ph.D study involves foundry and machining technologies, quality management and metrology, forming technology, welding and surface treatment technologies, inclusive of automation of the preparation of production as well as automation of manufacturing processes employing the above technologies. During their studies the students will get a profound knowledge of applied methematics, physical metalurgy, theory of experiments and optimization of technological processes in particular together with other theoretical and practical information closely related to the chosen field.

  1. Influence analysis of selected technological processes in bearing component manufacturing on surface layer integrity.

    Machining of bearing components requires to carry out precision operations that affect the integrity of the machined surfaces. Analisis of relationships between these processes and their effects on functional elements of the bearing surfaces will be used to select the most suitable parameters of the cutting processes. The effect of cutting tools and conditions of technological processes will be studied..

  2. On the optimization and innovation of high-speed machining processes of parts made from aluminum alloys with horizontal machining centers.

    High-speed machining of aluminum parts with horizontal machining centers allows high precision and productivity today. The competitive environment pressurize producers to cut down production times and keeping of high-tech innovations flow. The main goal of the work is an expert system for use of high-speed machining of special alloys with extreme accuracies including various production variables (cutting material, tooling, machines, management of process cooling for production e.g. of vacuum pumps. The work includes a control of modern processes, systematical analyses of their stability and KAISEN method use.

  3. Optimization of selected technological processes for the manufacturing of bearing components

    Machining of most of the bearing elements required to carry out precision operations with respect to eventual heat treatment and other adjustments. Since the technology of bearing in most cases belongs in terms of type of production in the series production., it is desirable to optimize technological processes.

  4. Productive cutting operation of duplex stainless steel grade 1.4362

    It is cheaper than stainless steel 1.4401 with very good mechanical properties and resistance to chemical corrosion. Lack of information from the manufacturers and sellers of cutting tools, the need for testing samples. Lack of tool cuttability which are now currently available on the market. Aim is to: increase productivity and tool life, build parameters and technology for finishing.

  5. Uncertainties in interferometric measurements calibration of measuring instruments and testing machine.

    Increasing the accuracy of production will require a much higher accuracy of measurement processes. For example, to calibrate the sensor with a resolution over indukčtnostního 0.00001 mm requires a specially adapted laser measuring head with a resolution up to 0.1nm. Evaluate existing methods of measurement uncertainty with sufficient credibility is practically possible. Doctoral Bachelor Sramek, who is an employee works in Brno, CMI is currently working on the diploma of the same issues which are prerequisites for him to solve this problem in his doctoral thesis.
