LOVE FOR LIFE
Every fifth is a studentIf you don't find friends in Brno, you won't find them anywhere. There are almost 20 thousand students at BUT. In total it is 80 thousand students in Brno from 13 universities. That means that out of 370 thousands people living in Brno every fifth of them is a student.
From October to May Brno is buzzing. You will love this energy. Without exagerration Brno is the Mecca for students – and you have to feel that concentrated student atmosphere.
No chance to get boredMaybe you won't be in time for lectures, but you won't definitely get a chance to be bored. Concerts, theatres, festivals, exhibitions, parties, pubs, cafes, bistro's...
In autumn clubbing season starts, during winter you can enjoy all sorts of hot drinks at Christmas markets (search for "Turbomošt"), and in spring you will have a new meeting point with friends at "Jakubák" – shortname for Jakubské náměstí Square. There is a very popular pub and you will probably have to enjoy your beer sitting on the ground :-) Like everyone else around you.
Unique villa. And the nature aroundTo visit the unique villa Tugendhat (inscribed in the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage) many tourists fly from Japan and other far destinations – and you can see it every day. Designed by the architect Mies van der Rohe it is the monument of modern functionalistic architecture. Another great example is Brno Exhibition Ground built in 1928.
City centre with its cafes resembles Wien. And what is the best part? You can get anywhere within half an hour by tram. Public transport at night (called "rozjezdy") is something that even Prague can be envious about. And if you take your bike and go outside the city, you will find beautiful nature all around. In a nutshell – it's a paradise.
In the centre of research and innovationEspecially for BUT students Brno is a real blessing. Why? Because many research centres have their seat here – e.g. CEITEC or Materials Research Centre.
Many high-end laboratories can be found in research centres established by our faculties. Students can get directly to research from the second year of their studies.
