2. round (applications submitted from 30.10.2017 to 11.12.2017)
- Analysis of the criteria for the assessment of internal erosion in soils
In the framework of the solution a summary of published criteria for the evaluation of the occurrence of internal erosion in the soil will be summarized. Further on their comparison Will be done together with their critical evaluation. For selected types of internal erosion existing knowledge will be supplemented by own experimental research.
- Development and testing of cellulose separation technology from municipal wastewater.
Main goal of the thesis is design, testing and pilot testing of technology for cellulose separation from wastewater followed by energetic utilization. Technology for cellulose separation from wastewater will be developed. Based on laboratory testing pilot plat will be developed and tested on selected municipal WWTP´s.
- Microwave pyrolysis of solid waste..
Main goal of the thesis is evaluation of microwave pyrolysis of solid waste. Final product is oil, gas and Carbon. Work will be carried on pilot plant of microwave pyrolysis in AdMaS Centre. Work will be carried on in cooperation with faculty of chemistry and company BIONIC.
- Modelling the dam failure due to internal erosion
In the solution model of dam failure due to internal erosion will be compiled. The inventory of existing practices Will be made, including the erosion characteristics. Soil erodibility will be verified by additional own experimental research. Identification of critical points in the dam body and the subsoil Will be done dor various dam types. Model of internal erosion and the development of a privileged flow paths will be compiled.
- Treatment of municipal wastewater by anaerobic MBR technology.
Goal of the thesis is development of technology of municipal wastewater by anaerobic process with aggregated biomass and sludge separation by means of submerged membrane module. Work will be focused on solution of problems connected with membrane clogging by operation, cleaning and process control.
- Use of algae for purification of wastewater with high content of nutrients.
Goal of the thesis is use of microalgae for purification of wastewater with high content of nutrients. Dissertation will be carried on research projects in cooperation with research center AdMaS and company Photon Systems Instruments. In the frame of research problems of process dimensioning and nutrients harvesting from algae will be solved. Results will be verified on real wastewaters.
1. round (applications submitted from 01.06.2017 to 31.07.2017)
- Development and testing of cellulose separation technology from municipal wastewater.
Main goal of the thesis is design, testing and pilot testing of technology for cellulose separation from wastewater followed by energetic utilization. Technology for cellulose separation from wastewater will be developed. Based on laboratory testing pilot plat will be developed and tested on selected municipal WWTP´s.
- Investigation of the progression of seepage path
Using existing equipment at the Laboratory of hydraulic research the systematic research of progression of seepage path of selected soils will be carried out and erodibility parameters will be derived. The results will be statistically processed and corresponding uncertainties will be estimated as well. Numerical modelling of dam break due to progressive development of seepage path will be carried out using the parameters obtained.
- Probabilistic assessment of internal erosion potential
The aim is to analyze internal erosion failure at hydraulic structures by probabilistic methods. During the solution the uncertainties in input parameters will be assessed, the failure probability will be estimated via random sampling procedures. Partial aims are analysis of failure modes of water structures due to filter deformation, defining conditions of limit state and deriving partial reliability factors.
- The derivation of selected reliability factors for the assessment of hydraulic structures using the method of limit states
The aim is to propose and validate methods of reliability assessment of hydraulic structures using limit states method. Partial aims are analysis of failure modes of hydraulic structures, defining conditions of limit state and deriving partial reliability factors for selected limit states.
- Uncertainty analysis in groundwater flow modelling
In the thesis individual uncertainties in groundwater flow modelling will be classified. The assessment method of impact on selected output variables (piezometric head, seepage amount, etc.) will be proposed for selected uncertainties. The analysis enables estimating of reliability of groundwater flow modelling.
