Course detail

Socioart for Students in the BA cycle

FaVU-1SOA-ZAcad. year: 2010/2011

The "axis" of Copernican turn in art is the figure of Marcel Duchamp. The course refers to his work and to the cognitive, non-experiential and out-of-aesthetic orientation of art which was first mentioned by Duchamp. It follows the manifestations of contemporary art which are interested in the area of "the social" or which experiment with the area of science, especially with the humanities and social sciences.

Aims

The course is not about the history of art and it is not instructional - it aims to establish a "pre-understanding" of the thematized phenomenon by means of an "imaginative sounding-out" of various symbolic spaces. Rational dispositions, a sense for playing and for the grotesque (which, by the way, thrives anywhere where unlinkable is linked) are an advantage. The training in "discourse switching" justifies participation of two teachers in teaching the course.
