Interpretation of Architecture I

Interpretation of architecture as a broad interdisciplinary subject will be seen through different media such as texts, films and contemporary art. The aim is not only to open discussion about the role of the architect in contemporary society and a reflection of architecture in an interdisciplinary discourse, but also developing the ability of verbal, written or audiovisual formulations and concepts.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Continuously consulted and at the end of the semester presented interpretation of an architectural work by a selected method in the form of non-scientific, pre-scientific or scientific text (essay, article, study) or text-visual work (lecture, installation, exhibition).

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Active participation in seminars, continuous consultations and final presentation of an interpretative text (essay, article, study) or text-visual work (lecture, installation, exhibition) are evaluated.

Aims

Acquiring knowledge about basic questions of architecture interpretation, selected types of interpretation and methods of interpretation and also non-methodological interpretation of architecture. Theoretical and practical experience in interpreting architectural works based on seminars, consultations and individual, individual study of architectural works and literature.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation, continuous consultation, presentation of interpretation and evaluation. Missed lessons will be replaced in another term after previous agreement with students.
