Quality Management Systems

FAST-CW012Acad. year: 2018/2019

The principles of the two most significant quality management philosophies, these being Total Quality Management (TQM) and reengineering. The subject focuses mainly on the first part in greater detail – the implementation of a quality system and its development in TQM. It also deals with the relationship of TQM to other systems, such as the occupational safety system and the environmental system. Students are also acquainted with the basic civil engineering quality manual, with the personnel training system and the certification system.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students are informed about the latest global trends in the area of quality management and its application in engineering companies and construction execution:
- principles and structure of quality management systems according to the requirements of ISO 9001,
- documentation of quality management systems necessary for companies and for construction execution,
- principles of internal auditing of the quality management system according to ISO 19011,
- principles of Total Quality Management methods and the KAIZEN system,
- principles of the reengineering method,
- the EFQM model of excellence,
- integrated management system of applications for engineering companies and construction execution.
