The diploma seminar provides students with methodological and professional preparation to be able to tackle their diploma theses on a complex level. Processing information from professional literature. Completion and evaluation of obtained data, methodology of executing the theoretical and experimental part of the diploma thesis, interpretation and discussion of results, validation.
In further course of time results are individually evaluated using published finding of the department, domestic and foreign sources, as well as their processing in accordance with the diploma supervisors‘ recommendations. In order to satisfy the demands of the Institute for contentual and formal unification of theses, consultations are organized.The issues of technical backing of possible resits and unexpected situations in the finishing stages of diploma theses are addressed including extra consultations both internal and especially external. Questions of organisation are discussed, especially the excursions of students outside the Faculty to manufacturing and other organizations. External consultants and second readers are secured.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students will improve their knowledge and skills connected with the matter of the diploma thesis. They obtain information from technical literature and study both domestic and foreign sources. They get acquainted with technical parameters of laboratory equipment and learn to work with special devices. They will learn to perform experiments independently (design and make test specimens, execute a complex of tests to determine the physico-mechanical and the physico-chemical properties), evaluate the obtained results and draw a proposal for further progress.
Methodological techniques of data processing, interpretation of results, application SW, products for graphical operations.
Knowledge of Laboratory Tests of Building Materials and Components.

Students work individually under the guidance of a supervisor of the master thesis. The topic of the diploma thesis may be a part of the research project or grant.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Passmark: at least 90 % of the diploma thesis.
Language of instruction
The students will improve their knowledge and skills connected with problems of assigned dissertation. They are acquiring information of professional literature, studying domestic and foreign publications. They get acquainted with technical parameters of laboratory equipment and learn to work with special apparatuses. They will learn to perform independently experimental works (design and make test pieces, realize a complex of tests to determine physico-mechanical and physico-chemical properties), evaluate the obtained results and propose the further progress of works.
