Contemporary Architecture

Source information about the contemporary architectonic scene, main streams and key figures determining the contemporary architecture. At the very beginning of study it serves as initial knowledge applied in a student’s studio work in the following semester.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student gets an overview of the history of world architecture since 1960. Student gets an overview of the history of Czech architecture since 1960. Student gets an overview of stylistic pluralism in the contemporary architecture. Student will know key figures in the contemporary Czech architecture. Student will grasp key theoretical approaches in the contemporary architecture.

Prerequisites

The subject is involved in the first semester of study and thus there is no connection with any previous discipline. The general knowledge of culture and history at the secondary school level is supposed.

Informations are presented through lectures and presentations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Each student will pass an exam in the form of a written test.
