Bachelor Seminar (K-KDK)

FAST-BO051Acad. year: 2018/2019

The seminar is aimed at preliminary work and completion of bachelor’s project with the accent to steel, steel-concrete and timber structures and bridges.
Special care will be paid particularly of material choice and usage, static and structural design, rules of members, connections, joints and structural details dimensioning, performance of load-carrying structures with consideration of realization, inspections, possibly of reconstruction and rebuilding.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student will acquire more in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of the design of members and connections, steel, steel-concrete and timber structures and bridges. In connection with the static solution, student will be able to design structural details and to elaborate the complex structural design of simple steel, steel-concrete or timber structure.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the design of members and connections of metal and timber structures. Principles of structural mechanics, elasticity, strength and plasticity, which necessary for the design of simple steel, steel-concrete or timber structure.

Co-requisites

Extension of knowledge of structural mechanics, elasticity, strength and plasticity. Obtaining knowledge in the field of the civil structure modelling.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through practical exercises and self-study assignments. Attendance at practical exercises is compulsory.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

For the successful graduation of this course it is necessary to elaborate the complex static and structural design of the simple steel, composite steel-concrete or timber structure.
