Basics of technical drawing. Technical materials. Construction/design documentation. Machine parts. Machines - basic principles, types and functions.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Ability to read technical drawings incl. links to international standards. Ability to apply the knowledge learned in one's creation of a part in a technical drawing of it. Basic knowledge of the technical materials used, their properties (in relation to the drawing), taking into account the stress and use of the machine part. Basic knowledge of the most important machine parts, both standardized and non-standardized, their function, use and basic types of stress. Knowledge of the basic principles, types and functions of the most frequently used machines.

To teach the students to understand the technical drawing as an unambiguous communication tool; to develop the students' three-dimensional imagination. To make the students familiar with the function and use of the common machine parts. To impart technical information about the most frequently used machines. The knowledge acquired will make the attendees equal partners of technical designers in the field of industrial design.
