Binding Materials - laboratories

FAST-BJ52Acad. year: 2013/2014

Tests of cement properties, determination of normal consistency, begin and the time of cement setting. Determination of cement strength. Determination of specific mass of cements (clinker) specific surface by permeability method using the Blain apparatus. Determination of cement sort by microscopic and chemical methods.
Determination of mortar properties, determination of mortar strength, of mortar adhesion to the background and of mortars workability. Tests of natural- and FGD-gypsum properties, determination of water/gypsum ratio, of the begin and time of gypsum hardening.
Preparation and testing of blended cements properties, preparation of different types of cements and determination of slag (or of fly ash) content effect on physico-mechanical properties of prepared cements. Tests of lime properties, determination of lime reactivity, the yield of lime - shortened method.
Checking of results and records from laboratory tutorials.

Aims

The leaver of the subject acquires detailed information about test methods of binders (cement, lime, plaster) mostly used in building industry and about ways of their evaluation. The knowledge from the subject is the essential base for further technical subjects concerning the properties and the suitability of building materials.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.
