Project - Project Management of Building Constructions

The course is focused on the processing of documents for the project management of construction a concrete building by the investor.
It contains the creation of flowcharts in the course of project, structural plans, organograms, functional diagrams, plans of outputs, clearly and coordinating schedules in the form of network diagrams and Gantt diagrams, costs plans, deployment plans factual, personal and financial resources, processing of construction organization plan as part of project documentation for building proceedings of this building, the proposal for an issuance of decision on the location of the building, the application for a building permit and a proposal for building approval application. Program Microsoft Project is used for processing.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will apply general knowledge and skills of project management on specific construction contract. They use network analysis for terms, resource, cost and financial planning. They process construction organization plan. They set of outputs in Microsoft Project. They will learn specific techniques and methods in the preparation and realization buildings for the investor.

Prerequisites

Managed basics of project management, phasing of projects associated with the construction, content and methods of planning and realization of constructions used on the investor side, the technology construction production, basic network analysis. Computer skills.

Co-requisites

To understand the basic terms of leadership and management in the construction industry, identifying the principles and methods of management, the definition of communication, decision-making and control processes.
Gaining of basic information about environmental management systems and quality management.
Business and civil proceeding obligational relations. The most frequently used types of contracts. Basic system information and status of the Building Act.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Students are divided into groups of two to three members, in which they process the project for concrete construction contract. They are acquaint with the contents of particular assignment and trained on Microsoft Project software. Continuously consultations are executed in the teaching, presentations and defences of developed project are taking place at the end of consultations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Projects will be processed in a maximum of three-membered groups of students. A base for getting a classification credit will be point evaluation handed project, which will be obtained for particular assignment, continuous consultation, the presentation and defences.

Aims

To get further knowledge and skills from project management and to adopt concrete procedures and methods in construction project management. Necessary knowledge for planning and management of projects on the supplier’s side. To know specialized software applications. Presumption for acquiring project manager certification in Czech Republic according to IPMA policy for level D „Certified Project Management Associate".
