The paper deals with the seismic response analysis of the HPP MATKA new penstock system. The procedure of developing the FEM-model is described. The model involves the rock massive, reinforced concrete structure of the penstock tunnel, surge tank branch, two wye branches with branch pipes, and the two steel penstock systems with butterfly valves and dismantling joints at the spiral case intel. Static loads have been considered in computing the combined responses. The approach in the assessment of limit states of the structure is analyzed.
