Contribution deals with design of effective diagnostic methods that are applicable in the area of industrial automation with particular attention to the technological processes. Recent automatic control systems have to be designed with reference to higher quality, higher reliability and maintenance of the whole network e.g. control system, process instrumentation and technology. Paper discusses advantages and disadvantages of existing maintenance methods and presents diagnostics and maintenance methodology of controlled process and instrumentation by current functional process devices and current control system only.
