Mobile platforms are usually equipped by sensors for obstacle avoiding or building maps of area. The article describes structure of 3D CCD laser proximity scanner meant for purpose of mobile robotics. This kind of sensor could serve as for autonomous operation as for telepresence control of mobile robot. Sensor itself is equipped by DSP allowing basic operations as comparator threshold setting, unsuitable data filtration and approximation of measured values. There are described also the basic steps for creating of local map of the studied environment.
