I will share the things that need to be done immediately for new students if you are travelling to Brno for the first time based on my experience.
Firstly, if you are travelling from Asian countries, the nearest airports to Brno are Vienna (Austria) and Prague (the Czech Republic). From both the airports there is a possibility to use public transport to reach Brno, from Vienna airport bus stop is located at a walkable distance, where you will find buses (e.g.: RegioJet, Flixbus) which travel to the Czech Republic. Discounts are available on public transport for students under the age of 26 years. Once you reach Brno, from RegioJet bus stop you need to walk to Hlavní Nádraží tram station. To reach the technological park tram stop where BUT dormitories are located, you need to board tram no. 12. Ticket for travelling in trams can be purchased from the driver or from the ticket machines available at the tram stop. If you are from a non- EU country, you need to report your arrival to Brno at MOI (immigration office) located at Hněvkovského, Brno within 3 working days.
Secondly, here the currency used is CZK (Czech Koruna), I suggest you carry a debit card/ credit card which can be used for international transactions or carry the minimum amount of EURO currency. If you are carrying EURO currency, that can be exchanged with CZK from “CURRENCY EXCHANGE” points.

Thirdly, to buy a SIM card, you need to provide your passport or residence permit, if you are a student you can opt for ISIC card discounts. For opening a new bank account, you must provide passport/ study confirmation provided from the study department and proof of residence.Views of BrnoDate: 15.
