Study aims

The structure of the three-semester follow-up Master's study program Civil Engineering - Building Materials and Technologies is based on the tradition of long-term study programs at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Brno University of Technology (hereinafter “Faculty of Civil Engineering”). Republic (Czech Republic) and European Union (EU).
The content of the study program is designed to meet the requirements of:
- Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education and on the Amendment to Other Acts, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Higher Education Act”),
- Government Regulation No. 274/2016 Coll., on Standards for Accreditation in Higher Education,
- Government Regulation No. 275/2016 Coll., on Education in Higher Education
all in accordance with the methodological materials of the Board of the National Accreditation Office for Higher Education and the documents of the Brno University of Technology (hereinafter “BUT”) and the Faculty of Civil Engineering of BUT.
The study program is taught in the Czech language in full-time form of study and is intended for graduates of bachelor's and master's degree programs of university and non-university technical universities in the Czech Republic and the EU. The content of the course builds primarily on the knowledge of graduates of the four-year bachelor's study program Civil Engineering, specializing in Building Materials and Technology at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the BUT. The study program also enables student mobility and part of study at other selected universities with a similar focus.

During the study the student gains deepened knowledge of theoretical and professional disciplines in the field of building material engineering. The first semester is focused on deepening the knowledge in subjects profiling the basis of the study program and acquiring new theoretical knowledge, which is a prerequisite for further development of his professional knowledge and skills required at the level of civil engineer. In the following semesters are gradually included other professional engineering courses in the program, in which the student will acquire more detailed knowledge of new approaches to solving building materials issues. Significant attention is also paid to teaching subjects of economic and ecological focus.
In the last two semesters of study, within the compulsory optional subjects of the program, the possibility of a narrower specialization is offered, eg in relation to the selected topic of the thesis and these subjects extend the student's expertise.
The aim of the study is to educate specialists capable of immediate qualified application in the field of building material engineering. It is used in wide areas of production technology of all kinds of building materials, as a manager of quality and environment of a construction company, as a technical support of marketing, furthermore it is business companies dealing with sale of building materials and components, building offices, engineering, and scientific and research institutes, educational activities, entrepreneur in the production and distribution of building materials.
Upon successful completion of the state final examination, which includes the defense of the diploma thesis, the graduate is entitled to use the title “engineer” (abbreviated as “Ing.” Before the name).

Graduate profile
