  1. Achieve European standards in the equipment of small international airports

    Give priority to European standards applied in the CR for major international airports (Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Karlovy Vary), scheduled air transport. In the CR there are a number of other international public airports for international traffic and transport small sport planes and there are international non-public airport. Will analyze the current state of small international airport and the proposed categorization. Using the model will be proposed and verified a minimum of technical equipment for each category. It will build on the existing RWY and TWY and level of Aviation safety equipment. A proposal for a methodology for assessing the suitability of other technical equipment for small airports due to a specific category. Draft methodology is theoretically justified by appropriate procedures (modeling).

  2. Aircraft structural health monitoring and prognostic

    The work will be focused on monitoring of the aircraft structures, assessment of their state and evaluation of their remaining life. Predominantly composite structures will be considered for the investigation. Small, low weight and low cost Piezo ceramic sensors generating surface Lamb waves (or other sensors) capable of the defect detection, localization, and sizing for assessment of the structure damage severity will be used. The aim of the work is assessment of the applicability of these sensors and design of a methodology for the structure health monitoring including consequential evaluation of the damage severity and its type with calculation of the structure remaining life. Close co-operation with Honeywell International, s.r.o. is considered for this work.

  3. Analyse of the aircraft structure tests

    The aim goal of this theme is a finding the way how to establish the measurement uncertainty during the aircraft structure testing. The output of this work should be a methodology that shows how that uncertainty to establish on dependence of used equipment and type of the test. The part of this work will be to include all input influences that should appear during the tests. For the solving of the proposed dissertation work the Institute of the aircraft engineering has all material and equipment included mainly the Aircraft testing facility, that performing per year many tests that should be used for solving of this work. Is intended the student will be active with design and preparing the technical experiments.

  4. Analysis of a thick-walled composites aircraft structures at the static and dynamic loading

    Composites materials are widely used in aerospace engineering and applied in any others technical disciplines (sport equipments, ships, human prosthetic devices). The thick - walled composites components means laminated solid elements (spar flange, landing gears, hinges) usually appeared in structures in addition to classical thin-walled structures. Strict strength and reliability requirements are applied for those solid composites elements. The present widely used design approach is based on empiric research and experiences of designers. The modern CAI methods are weakly used for these purposes. Benefits of those methods are undisputable. The different approach is necessary to apply at the design of the solid composites components than at the thick-walled composites structures. Experimental part of the work will be deal with laboratory measurement series of materials specimens. Principal experimental research will be carried out on leaf type composite landing gear at static and dynamic loading. Numerical part of the work will be focused on simulation of the landing gear at the static and dynamic loading. The goal of the work is identification and quantification the main factors affecting the solid composites elements behavior and proposal implementation of that factor to the design and analyses.

  5. Application of airplane lifecycle management system in design, manufacture and certification stages.

    Broad application of CAD, CAM and CAE tools during aircraft development and manufacture stages causes generation of big volume digital data. Diversity of the tools restricts possibility of effective communication between individual project partners. An application of strategy Product Life Management (PLM) is one from possibilities how to deal with this data and communication problems. This strategy is not yet effectively used in the Czech aircraft industry. PLM permits to base decision process on the latest complex information and to share and/or disseminate know-how. Study will be concentrated to the following fields: - Analysis of PLM application in the aircraft industry - PLM strategy application in design, computational and manufacturing stages of a small sport airplane - Description of parameters necessary for external communication using PLM strategy with the aim to increase certification process efficiency. - Risk analysis of PLM strategy application

  6. Desihn, stress analyses and limit load of sandwich structures

    The main objectives of study and dioctoral thesis isto create a methodology of design sandwich structures, methods of stress analyses and calculationn of limit load. The different materials for sandwich core and all structures take into acount the composites, metal and combination . For some samples carry out the technology production and static tests.

  7. Ecological aspects of civil air transport on airports

    At the present time the ecology of operation of civil airplanes takes on importance. Effort to suppress impacts of airplane operation on both human health and environment due to a great increase of air traffic remarkably strenghtened. This is important especially on airports and in their vicinity, where disproportion between the need of operation growth in the contrary of the decrease of its impact on environment and of land-use planning is substantial. Main objectives of this thesis are based on analysis of all possible aspects of airplane influence upon environment. Also demanded are proposals of a methodology how to reduce the negative impact of airplanes on aerodrome environment while maintaining (or increasing) the operational safety. Emphasis should be put on the noise, which is perceived as the most problematic disturbance in vicinity of an airport.

  8. Modern maintenance procedures for airframe inspections for general aviation category aircraft

    Recent trend in general aviation aircraft (designed and certified in accordance with CS-23) is adoption and modification of complex procedures applied in transport category aircraft. This approach is result of an increased complexity of modern aircraft. Worldwide trends are: increased complexity of systems, increase requirements on reliability, durability and safety, increased life-cycle costs and (because of high number of flight hours) shorter time available for maintenance. In the airframe, abovementioned trends lead to increased demands on structural life (with application of DAMAGE TOLERANCE philosophy) and to increased tolerance against effects of damage and corrosion. Dissertation work will summarize existing knowledge in maintenance of airframes. Additionally, it will be possible to use knowledge from related technical/scientific disciplines like materials, fatigue, strength, etc. and combine this knowledge in multidisciplinary task - development of maintenance procedures for airframes. Close connection to state of the art practices, like MSG-3 maintenance procedures, is expected. Also close cooperation with aviation industry is expected.

  9. Proposal for methods of improving safety and quality of small international airports in the Czech Republic

    The issue of safety and quality is one of the most important factors affecting the activity of the major international airports (Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Karlovy Vary), scheduled air transport. In the CR there are a number of other international public airports for international traffic and transport small sport planes and there are international non-public airport. Will analyze the current state of safety and quality of the small international airports and the proposed categorization. In terms of security will be evaluated internal security (related to the actual air transport) and external security (related to the transport of hazardous substances, weapons, drugs, etc.). Using the model will be designed and verified different methodologies aimed at improving safety and quality at airports.

  10. STOL aircraft complex high-lift system multidisciplinary optimization

    High-lift system design is a typical multidisciplinary design problem. There is necessary to correlate conflicting requirements - high lift increment, minimal weight and installation space, simple and reliable kinematic solution. There appeared again demands for STOL type general aviation (GA) aircrafts or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). The very advanced high-lift system is key element of STOL aircraft design. The thesis shall include: - datailed analysis of requirements - definition of design criteria - design and further optimization of complex high-lift system (e.g. milti-component airfoil). The optimization shall include beside the aerodynamic properties also structural limitations and requirements (with complex wing design in mind) and design of actuating and kinematic system.

  11. The Implementation of PBN Navigation Specification under Optimized Radio-navigation Infrastructure of the CR

    Today's ground based radio navigation systems are expected to be further progressively supplemented, and are foreseen to be replaced, by the Global Navigation Satellite Systems, along with the implementation of the CNS/ATM strategy steps regarding wide Area Navigation implementation. The International Civil Aviation Organization expects in each state an Airspace Concept to be developed. As a part of the Concept, the complete process of PBN Navigation Specification implementation is accompanied with the assessment of the concurrent and the future perspective radio navigation means, Aircraft Operators fleet on-board equipment and other steps. In the view of global navigation environment and the position of the CR in the ECAC space, the methodology of the Airspace Concept based Navigation Specification implementation, together with assessment of concurrent radio navigation infrastructure and its future possibilities of system optimization with smoothed transition on new GNSS technology, is expected to be evolved.

  12. The realization and verification of software for loading aircraft calculation

    At present time is available on IAE several programmes to calculation of loading of the wing, tail units and so one. Interconnection between them do not exist which leads to comlications for data preparation and their verification. The aims of disertation is analytical and programme modernisation existing softwares and to create and verifind a new system on real aircraft.

  13. UAS operation rules in European controlled airspace and related ATM technical requirements.

    Actual development of the UAS requires intensive study of both legislation and technical solutions of their implementation to airspace. Satisfactory solutions were not be published till now. Then, it is very urgent to study the problems just nowadays. Objectives: - to collect and classify emerging informations/opinions of world´s experts how to rule air traffic of piloted and unmanned aircraft in controlled airspace - to analyse all UAS legislative as well as technical possibilities and limits published till now about the matter - to elaborate a qualified contribution to the problems solution in Europe. Contributions: - overwiev of the matter, - personal education in this special domain of air traffic srevices - to enriche experience of the Czech professional community in the field of ATS
