As technical applications there are mainly hydro-technical structures, hydro-amelioration structures, waterworks, waste water treatment, municipal drainage, water management systems, reconstruction of water supply piping network, restoration of water courses and reservoirs, waste in water management. Scientific preparation is based on knowledge of theoretical disciplines of natural sciences base together with theoretical and scientific disciplines of water management orientation. Graduate of PhD study is ready to work in research and development, using creative approach for problems solving and development of new methods in current water management and their application in construction of water management structures. PhD study is closely connected with scientific, research and development activities at training workplace and with technical practice. Continuous active scientific and pedagogical activity is a good condition for eventual qualification of graduates as academic employees at Universities.

Issued topics of Doctoral Study Program
The subject of this work is the development of methods for prediction of reservoirs deposition by bed load that transport water streams. Work is focused on deltas development depending on the grain size of bed load sediments. Numerical modelling will be verified by experimental research in the laboratory and measurements in the field.
Tutor: Zachoval Zbyněk, doc. Ing., Ph.D.
Main goal of the thesis is design, testing and pilot testing of technology for cellulose separation from wastewater followed by energetic utilization. Technology for cellulose separation from wastewater will be developed. Based on laboratory testing pilot plat will be developed and tested on selected municipal WWTP´s.
Tutor: Hlavínek Petr, prof. Ing., CSc., MBA
The aim of the thesis is to propose and validate a methodology for solving the problem of failure of embankment dams due to overtopping. The proposed methodology will include an evaluation of dams in the system of water works, eventually additional cross section structures (e.g. road embankments), in the catchment area and the proposal to minimize the probability of domino effect.
Tutor: Jandora Jan, prof. Ing., Ph.D.
Get experiences in branch of plane and point laser anemometry for realization experiments at flow range. Enlargement range of given methods. Auton. realization measur., evaluation of velocity fields and their comparison with numerical model results.
Tutor: Zubík Pavel, Ing., Ph.D.
At selected locations of loess and Cambisol soils will be monitored by the formation and development of erosion rills. Measurement and evaluation of shape and volume changes of erosion rills will run after each erosion efficient heavy precipitation. The measured values will be statistically evaluated in the context of all causal factors.
Tutor: Dumbrovský Miroslav, prof. Ing., CSc.
The objective of the thesis is the proposal of the methodology of long term rehabilitation plans of water infrastructure. The methodology will be based on a multi-criteria evaluation of the technical condition, theoretical and residual life of the individual parts of the water infrastructure. The methodology will be tested on real water infrastructure and is expected to processing simple EXCEL applications for its use in practice.
Tutor: Tuhovčák Ladislav, doc. Ing., CSc.
Measurement systems composed of weirs and flumes are often installed in specific geometric and current boundary conditions. Analysis of the problems of metrological confirmation is not available. At the same time zone of setting of deadlines recalibration of measurement systems in terms of regulations defined tolerance limits is for users of measuring systems from an economic and operational view cardinal.
Tutor: Žoužela Michal, Ing., Ph.D.
Main goal of the thesis is evaluation of microwave pyrolysis of sewage sludge. Final product is oil, gas and Carbon. Work will be carried on pilot plant of microwave pyrolysis in AdMaS Centre. Work will be carried on in cooperation with faculty of chemistry and company BIONIC.
Climate change gradually affects the Czech Republic. The question remains, whether this change is step or gradual change. The aim of the PhD thessis will be using analysis of non-stacionary processes identify and describe the temporal variability of hydrological processes and on this basis estimated the flow time series in the future.
Tutor: Marton Daniel, doc. Ing., Ph.D.
Work will deal with numerical modelling of hydrodynamic phenomenon with a goal to verify factual and numerical accuracy of flows in watermanagement structures and their comparison with physical research. Focus will lay on influence of wall conditions and free surface.
Dissertation will be aimed at research of nitrogen removal from washes of agricultural land in situ. The goal is optimization of proces parameters due to denitrification efficiency. Data gained by laboratory and pilot plant experiments will be used for creation, calibration, and verification of a mathematic model.
Tutor: Malá Jitka, doc. Ing., Ph.D.
In selected small watersheds will be evaluated individual components of the watershed retention capacity in the context of alternative design of adaptation measures. The values obtained will be statistically evaluated in the context of the causal factors.
The floating islands are devices respectively. objects free-floating on the water surface and are planted with wetland vegetation. In foreign countries this technology is used to eliminate nutrients in the water, in the Czech Republic, this topic is less known by the climatic conditions are undescribed and undefined. The work will deal with the measurements on real floating islands, with the describe of all year round, definition and nutrient balance in various types of tanks.
Tutor: Kriška-Dunajský Michal, doc. Ing., Ph.D.
The work will deal with the current issues of waste management, respectively. management and use of wastewater for irrigation. Part of the work will focus on the processing of numerical model and its calibration, output will be the definition of the conditions under which irrigation treatment of waste water use. The greater part of the work focuses on the description of soil characteristics of the various soil types.
Goal of the thesis is usage of anaerobic membrane technology for treatment of municipal wastewater. Work will be carried on pilot plant of AdMaS centre based on WWTP Brno - Modřice. Within the work will be verified possibility of treatment of low loaded wastewater and optimised operational parameters (load of anaerobic reactor, load of membrane and their regeneration etc.).
The goal of thesis will be an analysis of the defined factors on the development of selected water quality parameters (temperature, turbidity, free chlorine etc.) in the water distribution system. Within the dissertation will be on case studies water systems monitored actual values of selected indicators of water quality and calibrated with the outputs of the model water quality, depending on the hydraulic system of water supply network.
The aim of the PhD thesis will be, on the basis of delimitation and definition of water security of the Czech Republic, to define methods of on-line analysis of drinking water quality, to model and analyze the speed of contamination spreading in water supply networks, to define for individual pipeline materials and pipeline contaminants the risk of long-term contamination and to determine principles of security and protection of drinking water supplies.
Tutor: Raclavský Jaroslav, doc. Ing., Ph.D.
By model research will be set the minimal dimensions of operationally acceptable hood for cone valve. The cone valve is in Czech Republic standardized. The solution will be based on experimental research by supporting of numerical modeling with comparing of the conformity of outflow jet in free and restricted conditions. The influence of restricted conditions on valve capacity will be checked. The shape of diffusor inlet part of hood will be recommended with respect to backsplash elimination.
