The ability of the doctoral student of an independent scientific work on the selected topic, familiarity with scientific work methodology, especially the problem analysis and synthesis of the findings and its creative application in the proposed solution.

The graduate is ready for an independent scientific and research work in the field of architecture and urban design theory, is able to solve practical problems in the field of architecture and urban design independently and at a scientific level, publishes outcomes of both practical and theoretical activities, also in any of the world languages, is able to teach at a higher-education institution.

Entry requirements

The master degree qualification in the branch of architecture or similar achieved at a higher-education institution in the Czech Republic or a school of architecture abroad.
Passing successfully the admission examination during which the applicant proves his/her interest and expert knowledge for a research work.

    Project look into different ways of adapting re-use of abandonned buildings and redesigning urban space. After a long overlooking period, industrial heritage is nowadays institutonally recognised and begining actual work of famous architect.

    Typology, history and reasons of this hitherto uncharted type of sports buildings, built in the last two decades abundantly in the world and in the Czech Republic. Their significance and specifics.

    The issue of the perception of current building trends from the perspective of coexistence of graphic design and its importance in architecture. Analysis of the historical development of this interaction influencing contemporary architecture, but overall our life and the world around us.

    John Hejduk - the work of one of the most influential architects of the 20th century, whose origin and works closely related with Czecholowakia republic.     Today the energy saving building is more particularly defined and characterized. This characteristic loses the elementary principles of rational efficient concept and neglects the role of the architectural concept as well as the role of embodied energy.

    Housing typology carries typical and unique features of both available and the building structure. Their shape and form undergoes transformations in the context of time and the demands and requirements of users. Based on comparison of requirements for housing buildings from the period of functionalism and contemporary standards will work to formulate a methodology of maintenance, restoration and protection of residential buildings from that era.

    Criteria for evaluation of Czech universities are based mainly on quantitative analysis. There is not an exception in architectural schools too. Does this approach take into account all the specifics of architectural education? Thesis aimed at using the methods of educational research to analyze and compare the quality of high schools of architecture in our country and abroad.

    Radical development of technology nad changes in social life during last century caused changes of typology and forms in individual as will as communal housing. This phenomenon should by analyzed in case studies or by complex wiew.
