French conversation is intended for the students who completed the previous intermediate course or who have the basics of French grammar and relevant vocabulary.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Ability to express oneself in a more complex verbal and mainly written way. Using French for practical purposes (correct CV, study stay application, job application, description of creative purpose and method, description of artwork etc.), as well as for theoretic and arthistoric topics. Vocabulary covering basic philosophical issues which are directly linked with one´s subject of study (art as communication, art as education, theory of chaos, language as a means of communication, language as art).

Knowledge of French.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations..

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions for exam: paper (talk), presentation, story telling, description, essay.

Course curriculum

Texts from Beaux-Arts, from the textbook "Espace", "Nouvelle Echange II - III", from educational literature, the internet and daily press, from the textbook "Francouzská konverzace", published by SPN in 1992. Grammar based on the grammar book "Francouzská mluvnice" by Tláskal and Radina, published by SPN Praha in 1991.

Aims

To develop expressive abilities, vocabulary, communicative readiness, reactions and trains of thought, meaningful presentation of one´s opinion, ability to lead a polemic, ability to explain artistic procedures, evaluation of artworks, authors and ideas.
