Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations..

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Evaluation of individual exercises during the semester, checking the deadline, final seminar work. General knowledge of explained topics and recommended literature. Ability to describe the type and critically see both positives and negatives. Evaluation of suitability of practical application.

Course curriculum

1st semester
Drawing of bold roman type or bold grotesque. The purpose is a literal sign suitable for computers. Minuscules, capitals. Theory: development of italics and roman type from the 15th to the 19th centuries.
Printing type in the 20th and 21st centuries. Eclecticism of contemporary print/press creation.

Aims

Further development of knowledge and skills in reference to the course Type I. Emphasis is put on drawing and design of letters (type) as well as on students´ own invention. Minimum of writing.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance is mandatory.
