Textile Chemistry and Technology

Natural textile fibres and synthetic fibres, pretreatments – washing, causticizing, mercerization and bleaching of the cotton, methods of dyeing, dyeing of the cellulose fibres, dyeing of the wool, dyeing of the polyester fibres, textile printing, final treatment of the textile materials – crease proofing.

Having completed the course, it is expected that the student will have acquired knowledge allowing him or her not only to pass the exam successfully, but also to have a good understanding of the problems in his or her prospective professional activity.

Knowledge of selected chapters from organic and physical chemistry.

Aims

The objective of this course is that the students familiarise themselves with practical application of chemistry in the manufacturing of textiles (new fibres, dyes auxiliary technical agents).
