The elaboration of the entire technical documentation of a transmitting mechanism. Application of theoretical knowledge learned in the course of Machine Design - Machine Elements during the realization of a specific constructional task.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Acquiring skills of the designer, who will elaborate the entire technical documentation of mechanical gadgetry based on the assignment.

Prerequisites

Students are assumed to have the knowledge of Fundamentals of Design, Material Science and of Mechanics of solids, which they have obtained in previous part of their study at FME BUT, as well as the knowledge of Machine Design - Machine Elements is assumed.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The graded course-unit credit terms: the attendance at seminars and active constructional work. Submitting technical documentation in the required extent and quality. An oral interview with questions is also a part of the evaluation.

Aims

The aim is to practise and verify students` abilities to apply theoretical knowledge during realization of specific constructional suggestion.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Participation in seminars is checked and recorded. Education runs according to the week schedule. The way of compensation of missed seminars is specified by the tutor.

1.Assignment of entering parameters for gearbox design.
2.Calculation of gear set dimensions
3.Calculation of load capacity in bending
4.Calculation of contact load capacity.
5.Static analysis, determination of load of bearings.
6.Preliminary constructional design in terms of single part- and mass production.
7.Checking of shafts and their strength and stiffness, design of keys.
8.-12.Work on machine design project and concurrent consultations.
13.Final evaluation, credit awarding.
