Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will learn of fundamental methods of design and computing techniques establishing functionality, strength and reliability for a given working life.

Prerequisites

Students are required to have the knowledge of Fundamentals of Design, material Science and of mechanics of solids, which they have obtained in previous part of their study at FME BUT. Also the knowledge of Machine Parts and Mechanisms I. is assumed.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Terms of the course-unit credit: the attendance at seminars, active work on assigned projects and their submitting in a defined form. A teacher may ask for a completion or rewriting the project. Success in examination is conditional on the knowledge of presented matter and self-study of assigned topics. The exam is written and oral.

Course curriculum

Work placements

Not applicable.

Aims

The objective of the course is for students to learn how to construct machinery components and gadgetry.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Participation in lectures is recommended, participation at seminars is checked and recorded. Education runs according to the week schedule. The way of compensation of missed seminars is specified by the tutor.
