The course is concerned with the following topics: Basics of Hardware. Main parts of Computer: main board, microprocessors, memory, input/output units, keyboards, monitors, plotters, etc. Modems, Digital Cameras, Scanners, DVD, Hard discs etc., parallel computers, Embryonic Hardware, Evolvable Hardware. Molecular-Quantum Computing.

Students will be able to design a basic PC configuration and create simple programs controlling a microprocessor.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge from mathematics and physics is required.

The course objective is to make students familiar with basic structures and principles of PCs.
