Course-unit credit requirements: attendance in lessons, meeting assigned projects deadlines in a sufficient quality, passing the final test.

Aims

The aim of this course is to explain the principles of industrial design, its meaning and scope, to verify the knowledge in the area of imaging objects.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The attendance in lectures is recommended. The attendance in workshop education is controlled. Students have to be present at scheduled hours in the schoolroom, work on given projects and wait for consultation, unless a lecturer gives other individual plan. The excuse of absence is possible only due serious reasons, e.g. illness.

Introduction to the design education at the FME;
Term "design", industrial design, basic terms of the theory of design, branches of design, definition of design;
Philosophies of design 1-15;
Philosophies of design 16-30;
Functions of design - technical, ergonomic, aesthetic, physic, social, economical and psychological;
Organizations of design, design schooling;
Design competitions, excellent product of year;
Aspects of designer’s work, industrial designer, professional behaviour of designers, interdisciplinary and team work;
Methods of design work - design analysis, procedure of work on design , design project – from idea to prototype (sketch, drawing, modelling, draft, treatment on computer;
Views on design – Czech designers, examples of design 1;
Views on design – Czech designers, examples of design 2;
Design-management - importance of design for marketing and management;
Information about the Industrial Design studies in the 2nd and the 3rd years of study.

Introduction to the workshops - basic principles of industrial design;
Fritz doom - proportion of human body;
Exercise of imagination: compilation of figure motive from dedicated faces;
Continuation of working on the task;
Graphic components transferred into the square grid with the same visualization expression;
Continuation of working on the task;
Design of a teaser in the scale from dedicated components for given topic with a working model;
Continuation of working on the task;
Type in axonometry, colour and technical illumination;
Continuation of working on the task;
Garnish by pattern - conversion into another scale or size.
Finishing and handing over work, awarding course-unit credits.
