Course detail

Industrial Design I

FSI-YA1Acad. year: 2024/2025

The course covers the basic methods and habits necessary for working on a design project. Throughout the semester, students are given assignments to design products that have a simple function. Suitable topics include the design of hand tools such as a hand saw for wood or metal, an electric drill, or a jigsaw. The design project itself will be documented by drawing sketches, plan documentation, perspective views, and a three-dimensional model of the final solution. Students are expected to use digital technologies for visualization and animation in the development of the current project.

Compulsory attendance at seminars. Education runs according to the week schedule. The way of compensation of missed seminars is specified by the tutor.

Aims

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic attributes of industrial design in solving simple design products and to encourage the emergence of necessary habits, procedures and basic skills. The aim is to respect and emphasize the technical, operational and technological aspects of design.
Acquisition of basic skills for elementary product design, taking into account the ergonomic context, the functional aspects and the definition of the selected target group of customers.
