1. Characteristics of academic style, self-diagnostics of students English, the role of academic language
Teaching and studying at a sample foreign university, searching for information on its website and student life
3. Techniques of reading an authentic professional article, listening to a video focused on a professional topic
4. Use of language during a foreign internship - examples from previous Erasmus + stays: presentation, argumentative essay, overview essay, laboratory report, etc.
5. The characteristics of the text in a professional article I, vocabulary, academic structures and grammar, the use of dictionaries to understand the text and writing an excerpt from the article - summary.
5. Training of structures and phenomena from academic articles in the form of exercises, other aids for lifelong language learning - glossaries, thesauruses, on-line translators, vocabulary development in Quizlet and Vocabulary environments.
6. Presentations and panel discussions on a specific topic.
7. The nature of the text in a professional article II, vocabulary, academic structures and grammar, the use of dictionaries to understand the text and writing an excerpt from the article - summary II.
8. Styles of academic writing - specific information on how to write academic texts based on the ACS (American Chemical Society) and APA (American Psychological Society) manuals.
9. Listening to professional videos with academic character.
10.Writing an academic genre: overview essay, argumentative essay, laboratory report, self-diagnostics and feedback to other students' texts.
11. Lecture - specifics and listening to the lecture.
12. Techniques of lifelong learning and reduction of dependence on teachers. The role of a conference section chairman.
13. Preparation for the exam.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Active participation of students in the lessons is acquired; the examination includes also presentation on a specific topic, structured interview focused on a specific topic, writing an academic text "Laboratory report/Overview essay", and a written test.
The students are allowed two absences from the lessons and the course is completed with an examination

Aims

The aim of the course is to develop English competence so that the course alumni could use English effectively and correctly in academia during their internships abroad as well as in the field of research and science.
Students are able to effectively study in English abroad and they also use English properly in the field of research and science.
