Course detail

Heating and Heat Sources

FSI-EVZAcad. year: 2023/2024

The course is an introduction to the basic heat sources for family houses. During the lessons students will be gradually acquainted with boilers for solid and gaseous fuels, heat pumps, thermal solar systems and heating with electricity. The second half of the course will be devoted to hot-water heating systems, their types, connections and design.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes: Course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having attended the seminars and worked out protocols from measurements. The exam is written with possible oral correction and will verify knowledge in the field of theoretical preparation.

Participation in the exercises is controlled by the exercise leader. Exercises are compulsory. The student will make up for an excused absence in agreement with the exercise leader.
Lectures are optional.

Aims

Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with all aspects of the heating of family houses, ie to determine the correct source of heat and design the heating system.
Objective of the course - learning outcomes and competences: Students will gain advanced knowledge of solving engineering problems in the area of heat demand determination, and design of sources and heating systems for family houses. This knowledge will be applicable in the areas of energy, heating, heating, air-conditioning and technical installations of buildings, can be applied in manufacturing plants, investors and operators.
