Ergonomics of Sport and Physical Activities

Ergonomic principles were established in order to protect human health and safety. In sport, the emphasis on performance enhancement is regarded too. To meet these requirements, it is essential to distinguish specific traits of particular sport discipline and to find effective way of performing the acitivity with respect to individual physiological limits and abilities of the athlete. In the course, you will learn to understand the ergonomic principles, theri application in sport activities and with the procedure in risk factors identification.

Each student will conduct an ergonomic audit in specific sport acitivity according to his or her choice. Oral and written report will be submitted.

5. The risk factors II - external environment, the life style
6. Risk factor identification I - general and specific checklists
7. Risk factor identification II - instruments
8. Ergonomics of specific sport activities I - walking, running, swimming
9. Ergonomics of specific sport activities II - cycling, in-line skateing, scooters, nordic walking, in the gym, skiing, gymnastics, racket, bat or club disciplines, horse riding
10. Sport equipment and surfaces
11. Specific groups I - children and youth, seniors, pregnancy, after delivery
12. Specific groups II - physical limitations

The course focuses on the application of ergonomic principles in sport akctivities, both individual and team, with respect to the level and enhancement of performace and with the emphasis on safety and and preventions of injuries.
