Basics of Measurement in Kinanthropology and Sport

The content is theoretical and practical introduction to measuring, testing systems, which are used in sports and physical education. Students will acquire practical skills in working with simple devices and systems, and will be able to use them in various types of sports, environments and various monitored physical load or performance indicators. Part of the exercise will be individual practical activity individual and group.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student will acquire basic knowledge and skills about usage of simple devices for measuring and testing in sports.
He will be able to apply them in practice in his own measurements with athletes and the non-performance population. The student will be able to select suitable measuring and testing equipment and systems, install and operate the equipment, perform measurements and testing procedures, collect selected data, process them for evaluation and interpretation.

Course curriculum

The content is theoretical and practical introduction to measuring, testing systems, which are used in sports and physical education. Students will acquire practical skills in working with simple devices and systems, and will be able to use them in various types of sports, environments and various monitored physical load or performance indicators. Part of the exercise will be individual practical activity individual and group.

1. Introduction to measuring technology in sport, reasons and need to use measuring technology in sport, basic division.
2. Motion analysis - basic kinetic analysis, hardware equipment, sensors for measuring speed, acceleration, force, inertial measuring units.
3. Motion analysis - analysis motion software data processing - imaging techniques and simulation tools.
4. Instruments for testing reaction and balance abilities.
5. Instruments for static and dynamic force measurement.
6. Instruments used for measuring race power and assessing scoring.
7. Instruments for monitoring performance and performance with in top-level and elite sports.
8. Devices for field orientation and measurement of climate influences.
9. Use of mobile phones, tablets and smart watch applications in sports.
10. Devices and software for measuring and analyzing movement and supporting the training process in water environment.
11. Devices for leisure individual and group activities (navigation, measuring heart. rate and energy consumption, monitoring physical activity.

Aims

The aim is to make a basic overview, introduction and work with simpler systems and devices used for practical activities in training, competitions and testing.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Students must pass 80% of lectures. Exercises are 100% compulsory.
