Rehabilitation of Water and Sewerage Networks

The course deals with conception problems of solving rehabilitation of water and sewer systems (water mains, sewerage). Planning methods, survey methods of current conditions. Overview of trenchless technology methods use for rehabilitation of water mains and sewerage systems focused on local repairs, general repairs of networks and new line and repairs of objects.
The main themes of subjects are: overview of related standard specifications of legislation and standardization projects, systems of water and sewerage networks, material and diameter of water and sewerage networks, maintenance, information about current status of water and sewerage networks, classification of failures and appreciation, service life, methodology of failure removal, initial phase of works before rehabilitation, service availability of system, exploratory survey, conceptual solution of rehabilitation, rehabilitation methods, methods used and constructions build in the Czech Republic.

Student will manage to design of restoration plan and technical design and planning of rehabilitation of water and sewer networks and design of nodig rehabilitation technologies.

Course curriculum

1. Introduction, basic indicators of the technical condition of sewerage network, sewerage and drainage - basic information.
2. Maintenance and cleaning of sewer networks, failure of sewerage networks and sewage connections.
3. Inspection, classification and assessment of the condition of sewer system.
4. Repair of sewer systems and sewer connections.
5. Renovation of sewer systems and sewer connections.
6. Replacement and construction of sewer systems and sewer connections.
7. Technical condition of water networks.
8. Repair of water supply networks.
9. Renovation of water supply networks.
10. Replacement and construction of water networks.
11. Plans for rehabilitation of water and sewer networks.

- Knowledge about standards and regulations, pipe material and material used at rehabilitation, inspection and failure detection of water and sewer pipes, cleaning of water and sewer pipes
- Design of rehabilitation methods

1. Video presentation - Paris sewer system, discussion. 2. The technique used in the exploration of sewer networks, technology presentations, discussions. 3. Evaluation of camera survey by CCTV video recording. 4. Project - Rehabilitation of selected parts of the sewer network 1 - Hydraulic calculation. 5. Project - Rehabilitation of selected parts of the sewer system second - Design of measures. 6. Fluid - viscosity measurement, calculation of jacking forces when laying pipes by pipe jacking, calculation of the pulling forces during laying of pipes by HDD. 7. Project - Rehabilitation of selected parts of the water supply network 1 - Hydraulic calculation. 8. Project - Rehabilitation of selected parts of the water supply network 2 - Design of measures. 9. Rehabilitation plan for water and sewerage networks - study. 10. Practical examples of technologies - discussion. 11. Credit.
