Geodetical Astronomy and Space Geodesy I

Apparent movement (day and night).
Time and time systems, standard epochs, calendar.
Transformation of coordinates and their differential changes.
Changes in equatorial coordinates, astronomical refraction.
Star catalogs (FK5, FK6, Hipparcos, Tycho2, UCAC-3) and almanacs.
Geodetic Astronomy – principle of the methods. Instruments and equipment.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The goal of subject are knowledges from Spherical Astronomy, coordinate and time systems, time conversions and basic tasks and methods of Geodetic Astronomy.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of surveying with particular view of angular measurements, knowledge of plane and spherical trigonometry, Newton’s gravitational law, theory of free nutation.

Aims

Introduction of Spherical Astronomy, coordinate systems, time counting and measurement, basic tasks and methods of Geodetic Astronomy, instruments of classical Geodetic Astronomy.
