Automatization of the Design of Metal Structures I

Relation between real structure and a calculation model - basic approaches for the creating of calculation models.
Overview of program systems for the design, calculation and checking of metal and timber structures.
Program system IDA SCIA: assemblage of input dates, calculation, evaluation of results, proportioning.
Solving of individual assignments.

Course curriculum

1.-2. Introduction, the view of the program’s systems
3.-4. Co-ordinate systems, convention of the internal forces.
5.-6. Material properties, types of the members, characteristics of the cross-section.
7.-8. Geometry of the structure : plain systems, spatial systems.
9.-10. Constrains : supporting of the structure, cooperation of the members.
11.-12. Load. Types of the load : force, moment, temperature, strain
13. The load in accordance with ULS, combination of load state.

The objective of the subject is to introduce students to the problems of this course and to practise acquires knowledge and skills.
