Audiotechnology in English

The subject deals with basics of audio signal processing, analog and digital principles, electronic musical instruments, description of a recording studio, roles in a recording studio, microphones, musical formats and audiomastering. It focuses on vocabulary from this field.

After completing the course, students will be able to:
- describe the basics of signal processing, analog and digital principles
- name electric instruments, describe electric guitar
- describe recording studio in detail, its function, roles
- describe microphones, types
- describe musical formats
- describe mixers

English language skills at the B1 (intermediate) level are required.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods include lectures. Videos (listenings) and research articles in English language are employed.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
A student is evaluated according to the points he obtains from one mid-term tests and final test. A student can obtain 0-100 points, 40 points from the mid-term tests and 60 points from the final test, while in order to pass this subject a student is required to obtain at least 50 points.

3. Electronic Musical Instruments, electrical guitar – its main parts.
4. Recording Studio, its parts, equipment.
5. The Role of the Producer in Recording Studio.
6. Microphones, description, types.
7. MID-TERM TEST (W1-W6).
8. Sound Systems and Surround Sound.
9. Mixers
10. Audio Formats, concerts.
11. General Sound Recording Outside the Studio
12. Audio Mastering
13. FINAL TEST (W1-W12)
Aims
This subject aims to provide students with the selected chapters from audiotechnology, and introduce them vocabulary and specific features of the texts from the field of auditechnology via lectures, research articles and videos (listenings) in English language.

Attendance is not compulsory, the final test is compulsory (see criteria).
