Construction Materials and Segments (p)

Basic review of the terms of composite materials theory: cement concrets, polymer impregnated, polymercement, polymer concrets and polymer mortars.
Particle composites, fibre and lammelar. Mortars and concrets with bitumen matrix, their application and testing.
Dry rendering mixtures, repairing materials on portland cement base with modifiing admixtures, repairing materials with non-cement matrix.
Insulating materials for protection of building construction against water, moisture and other harmful effects.
Utilization of polymers as adhesives, coating compositions, binders and admixtures.
Permanent elastic mastixes for dilatating purposes.

Prerequisites

The skill of the combined use of the knowledge of sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics) on a secondary school level, the ability to use knowledge of the subjects of Building materials and Building mechanics, the knowledge of the statistics – methodology of the selection and optimization. In case of the subject given in English, the intermediate level of written and spoken English is required.

Aims

The grasp of new materials, used in the present building practice and for the reconstruction of buildings and constructions, the familiarization of the students with some progressive technologies of the reconstruction of the worn-out parts or whole constructions, the skill of the right selection, optimization and use of construction materials, potentially of reconstruction techniques.
