Course curriculum

1. Two-way edge supported slabs - structural arrangement, structural analysis, approximate techniques, PC analysis, reinforcement detailing.
2. Continuous two-way slabs – principle of solution, reinforcement detailing. Slabs partially edge supported. Slabs of common shape.
3. Circular and annular slabs. Waffle slabs.
4. Monolithic reinforced concrete slabs locally supported – structural arrangement, static action, elementary calculation of internal forces, principles of dimensioning for deflection.
5. Extrusion of a slab. Solution of different types of heads. Limit of applicability of two-way slabs. Methods of reinforcing. Post-tensioned slabs.
6. Simple supported and continuous deep girders.
7. Folded plates.
8. Shells.
9. Elementary principles of design of storage tanks (bunkers and silos) – loading, principles of static solution, dimensioning and reinforcing.
10. Elementary principles of design of reservoirs – loading, principles of static solution, dimensioning, reinforcing.
11. Precast structures – halls, skeletons.
12. Precast structures – building from flat and spatial units.

Aims

Understanding of the behaviour of flat concrete structure. Design of stab and wall concrete structures.
Understanding of the specific behaviour of precast concrete structures. Design of precast concrete structures.
To analyse selected special concrete structures, e.g. storage, tanks, shells, suspension and cable-stayed structures.
