Modern Reproduction Processes

Digital photography. Objective evaluation of digital cameras. Inkjet printing of digital photographs. Media for inkjet printing. Archival stability of inkjet printouts. The methods of accelerated ageing of inkjet prřintouts. Basic concepts of colour management. The colour, spectral curves, light sources, standard observer. Colour measurement, fluorescence, metamerism, chromatic components, colour gamut. Measuring instruments. Profile-making software. Device dependent and independent colour spaces, their conversion. Colour management system. Input and output devices of production open system. Colour management system in graphic art workflow. The profiles of devices, device independent profiles - their creation and tuning. The input and output devices profiles. Colour management system in Windows and selected applications. Colour control and ink formulation.

Students will obtain the theoretical knowledge of digital photographic technology and colour management system.

Aims
The aim of the course Modern Reproduction Processes is to provide students with digital photography, objective evaluation of digital cameras, inkjet printing, methods of durability ad lightfastness evaluation of printouts and with colour management system in colour communication, in workflow of pre-press technologies.
