Course curriculum
Modern study methods of silicates materials
Cement - raw materials and technology of Portland clinker production, clinker phases and their hydratation, setting and hardening
Concrete - durability, role and types of aggregates, chemical admixtures
Special types of inorganic binders (HPC, RPC, MDF)
Geopolymers
Nontraditional ceramic materials (refractories, ceramic materials for heterogenous catalyses and fuel cells, photocatalyses, bioceramics, phosphate binders)
Aims
You will understand the causes of cement hardening, get an overview of special types of concrete, familiar with other types of inorganic binders and ceramics materials, you will be able to explain the nowadays so popular phenomenon: geopolymer and last but not least you will have the knowledges about testing silicate materials with the most modern techniques with which surely encounter at our faculty during your study.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Implication in oral presentation is voluntary.
