Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to orientate oneself in both topics of reverse logistics and retail after successful passing.

Prerequisites

In order to be able to enroll in the course, knowledge and successful completion of the course Business are required (2nd year, summer semester).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the method of teaching and are described in Article 7 of the BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. Guided tutorials are mainly focused on the consultation and control of the tasks assigned to individual processing.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Subject is finished by graded credit, which student receive for success in writen test, by which student shows his teoretical knowledge. Successful writen test is consider at level of 50 % of points, according to ECTS scale.

The course focuses on the introduction of reverse logistics activities and their involvement in business.
1. Introduction to the subject; Specification of logistic principles, goals, system approaches; Understanding logistics and customer service.
2. Business logistics in the context of Supply chain management; The impact of globalization on business logistics.
3. Introduction to reverse logistics (basic terminology, concepts and definitions).
4. Specification of reverse logistics in the context of the forward supply chain in relation to different sectors.
5. Reverse logistics legislation.
6. Reverse logistics in retail and shipping management.
7. Analysis of the financial impact of reverse logistics on trading.
8. Factors of the success of small and medium-sized enterprises in the realization of reverse logistics in the shop.
9. Evaluation of reverse logistics approaches in the context of business.
10. Green logistics and storage policy.
11. Development of a reverse logistics program in an organization in the framework of business activities.
12. Influence of government institutions on reverse logistics.
13. Written credit test.

Aims

The objective of the subject is to make students acquainted with principles of reverse logistics and their linking in retail's activities. Students get basic summary of applied reverse logistics' activities, which are relevant in providing required level of retail activities, followed by creation of long-term business relationships.
