Water Supply - project

In this course, students expand their theoretical knowledge and practice of practical design skills, which are obtained mainly in the course Water Supply. Students solve a complex project of drinking water supply system in selected smaller size municipality, but on the real territory and each with individual entries.
Students are gradually tackling water collection, water treatment, storage, pumping and water transportation. Processed solutions hand in the form of project documentation. Within subjects is used more than the current computer technology and software.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will use a real map for design of water supply system as a complex system composed of selected objects – water resource, water treatment plant, reservoir and water mains. In this course will prepare project documentation in the form of study on the following steps: calculation of water, design and drawing of water resources, design water treatment technology, design and drawing of reservoirs, plan of water mains (water supply network situation, longitudinal profile), hydraulic network analysis, technical report.

Recommended optional programme components

The study of recommended catalogues and websites of producers and suppliers of water treatment technologies, pipes, amrmatures, fittings and valves, pumps, etc.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. The planned excursion on the water treatment plant, seminar with one of the technology provider. Course in the LMS Moodle.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Mandatory participation in seminars at the seminars (only allowed two excused absence) submitting examples of exercises deadlines.

The basic conception solution and design of water supply and waste-water disposal on urban areas.
