Meteorology and climatology

Atmosphere, its charectiristics. Weather, climate and climate factors. Observation and measurement of basic effects. Time series in climatology, reduction of series,interpolation missing data. Processing of data. Weather forecast, synoptic map analysis, satellite meteorological systems. Mezoclimate, topoclimate and kryptoclimate. Influence of atmosphere on constructions. Climate maps and atlases.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will manage theoretical basics of landscape sphere studies and their single components against background of ecology and environmental protection problems. They will refresh their region-geographic knowledge of single world continents and Czech republic as well in context of contemporary social and political situation.

Prerequisites

Elementary knowledge of geography and physics.

Co-requisites

Remote sensing of the Earth and atmosphere.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lectures with presentation, expanding presentation on Moodle LMS for repetition and self study, consultations, exercise programs with individual tasks for self study.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Seminar work (essays) to selected notions and problems of meteorology and climatology. Successful completion of term test, attendance.

Improvement knowledge of meteorological and climatological effects, which can influence measuremets.
