Teaching Practice 1

According to the Dean's Regulation for the Studies in the Doctoral Study Program, each student of the regular form of the studies is obliged to teach two hours per week (26 hours per semester) in the second or third year of their studies. The student teaches free of charge. The assigned amount of classes can be taught by several different ways or their combination: 1) the student can propose their own lecture course which will be part of the FFA plan of study. The course must be approved of by the Board of Study Programs FFA BUT and included into the plan of study for the following academic year. The student and the mentor will provide the course abstract by the end of the winter semester of the academic year precending the year of instruction. 2) The doctoral student can supervise one - two students of the MA program as a part of the course "Diploma seminar for graduate students" (the course is taught in the summer semester of the second year of the graduate program). The doctoral student can be also the chief supervisor of the pratical part of the MA thesis. 3) Doctoral students have at their disposal a block of lectures called "The Doctoral Students' Lecture Cycle" which consists of two classes per week in both semesters, which is 52 hours in total during an academic year. The subjet garant will distribute the total amount of the classes between individual doctoral students. 4) After prior agreement with the mentor, the doctoral student can complete their teaching practice in the corresponding studio, supporting studio, or the Department of Theory (teaching seminars, leading workshops or field trips).

Course curriculum
Students discuss the proposal for their teaching practice at the FFA (according to their professional specialization) with their mentor and submit it to the Field of Study Comittee via its Chairman on the day of their registration in their second or third year of studies at the latest.
Aims
The core objective of Teaching Practice is training the student for the professional couse of an academic worker/instructor.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Students record their teaching practice in the BUT information system after the end of each semester in which they were obliged to teach free of charge.
