Static and Dynamic Analysis of Structures

Using of software solutions for the response of structures to static and dynamic loads. Analysis of structures by finite elements method with using program package ANSYS. The commands, graphic users interface, online help and manuals, verification manual. Solve of basic tasks. Creation of complex models of structures by modeler in program ANSYS. Library of elements, selection of elements, model and mesh generation. Apply loads and boundary conditions. Solve and analysis of results.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course outputs are practical skills on modeling mechanics tasks by using Finite Element Method. Student has basic knowledge about program system ANSYS. Student can analyze assigned problem and make out computational model. Student is able to solve basic static and dynamic tasks. Student gets more realistic conception of behavior of selected construction types. Student is able the theoretic FEM knowledge use at solving particular mechanics tasks.

Manage PC, theory of structural mechanics, fundamentals of mathematical theory of elasticity, fundamentals of structural dynamics, finite elements method

Course curriculum

1. History of programs based on the finite element method, introduction to program system ANSYS.
2. The structure of the program, the library features a help system, linked to the operating system.
3. Finite Element Modeling.
4. The mathematical description of analysis for solving problems of mechanics of structure.
5. Possibility of preprocessor
6. Modeling of loads and boundary conditions.
7. Selections, choice of coordinate systems.
8. Setting solver, static analysis and modal analysis.
9. APDL programming language and creation batches.
10. Types of dynamic analysis set of solvers.
11. Possibility of postprocessor.
12. Modeling the problems of heat conduction and transfer of results as the load of the structure.
13. Introduction to nonlinear mechanics problems – the problem of stability of structures.

Aims

To get additional FEM knowledge, real application of this method, introduce the FEM programs, preprocessor, solver, postprocessor, Computational model design, static and dynamic tasks solution, learned skills help to understand the static and dynamics behavior of structure, learn to operate the ANSYS program based on FEM.
