Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student acquaints basic concepts and principles of computer communications and computer networks and will be aware of communication functions and their implementations in common computer networks. Student will learn how to deal with RFC documents which desribe specification of communication protocols in detail. Student will learn how to implement communication protocol with respect to protocol specification in RFC document.

Prerequisites

Codes for data presentation, Hamming distance. Programming language C/C++.

  4. Transport layer. UDP protocol.
  5. TCP protocol. Socket API.
  6. Network layer. IP protocol. Addressing and routing.
  7. Routing protocols.
  8. Multicast in INternet.
  9. Link layer and link protocols.
  10. Switching and switches.
  11. ATM. Frame Relay.
  12. High-speed networks. Wireless and mobile networks and protocols.
  13. Network management.

  1. Two projects focused on TCP/IP communication.

The aim is to understand basic concepts and principles of computer communications and computer networks; to be aware of communication functions and their implementations in common computer networks.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Project work and final exam are the monitored, and points earning, education. Final exam has two additional correction eventualities.
