Thin Polymer Films and Polymer Surfaces

Lecture is structured in basic terminology, deposition, characterisation and application of thin polymer films and techniques for polymer surface modification. Deposition techniques: LB films, SA films, spin coating, PE CVD, sputtering, laser deposition, evaporation. Surface modification techniques: flame treatment, corona treatment, cold and hot plasma treatments, UV, X-ray and gamma-ray treatments, laser treatment, electron and ion treatments, metallization, sputtering. Characterisation methods: Talystep, Tolansky, ellipsometry, OM, SEM, TEM, STM, AFM, XRD, LEED, SAXS/SANS, infrared and Raman spectroscopies, AES, XPS, ISS, SIMS, RBS.

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 2 teaching hours per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Oral exam aimed at basic knowledge about thin film technologies and thin film characterization.
