3D Optical digitalization - summer

Students will be introduced to the 3D ATOS I scanner and its possibilites. They will be intructed in the preparation of the scanner, basic servis and callibration, preparation of the object for scanning, basic scanning of a simple object, polygonization, exporting the files, and their optimalization. We will look at solving specific problems during the digitalization of complex objects.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Independent work in ATOS I, the ability to chose the right procedure in processing specific objects; preparation of STL models for 3D printers.

Prerequisites

Students must have credits from 3D optical digitalization 1. They must know the basics of English and the ablity to use Blender, Maya, Rhino is welcome, but not necessary.

Course curriculum

1. hardware, basic service, check of the status
2. scanner calibration, installation of appropriate technologu, preparation for scanning
3. scanning a simple spatial model, polygonization
4. STL export
5. scaning a chosen object, methods of solving various problems
6. linking individual projects on the basis of reference points
7. students work on their own project

Aims

The course is a follow-up of Optical digitalization I. Students should be able to work on complex projects for which skills and experience with 3D scanner and ATOS I system is needed.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance in lectures - 70% min., workshops are mandatory. Students will be divided into groups and lead to cooperation on the assigned tasks.
