Design of Electronic Instruments

FEKT-NNENAcad. year: 2015/2016

Semiconductor devices for electronic instruments including control microprocessors and/or microcontrollers. Electrical design. Methodology of analogue and digital blocks design of the instrument. Computer aided design and its ability to simulate designed circuits. Concept of electronic instrument or PC plug-in module design. Fundamental modules of electronic blocks and their design. Problems with spurious coupling and signal transfer, EMI, parasitic properties of PCBs. Design rules. User’s requirements, control comfort, interfacing to an external PC, remote control via an interface bus, access to intranet/Internet using TCP/IP protocol. Specialities inside electronic instruments. Possibilities of PCB design. Technical documentation.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students are able to design analogue and digital circuits and systems exploiting integrated circuits for electronic instruments and devices, namely including built-in intelligents exploiting microprocessor or interfaced PC computer. They solve even complex design of plug-in modules for PC computers with necessary SW handling.

The subject knowledge on the Bachelor´s degree level is requested.

Aims

The aim of the subject is to make students familiar with analogue, digital, AD and DA circuits for electronic instruments or plug-in units for PC computers, namely including application of microprocessor or building into the standard internal PC computer bus.
