Introduction to Management. Historical roots management. From Taylor to pragmatic management of today's most successful companies. New challenges in a globalized world of business management functions - making, planning, organizing, coordinating, motivating and managing people, control and its forms. Communication, information management systems. Profile Manager, personality characteristics and prerequisites for successful performance management functions. Organizational structure and design organizations. Operating (operational) management. Management of the value chain. Knowledge of the principles of a comprehensive quality management (TQM), legal frameworks (Czech EU) management organizations oriented to market success. The concept and content quality risks in the field of environment and health and safety. Methods for introduction of quality management, environmental and health and safety. Legislative requirements of quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management system requirements of quality, environmental and health and safety. Tools quality, environment and occupational health and safety. Selected specific requirements management system (documentation and management of documents and records, internal audits, management systems, corrective and preventive actions and continuous improvement). System approach, integrating management systems.

Students are required to have the basic knowledge of technology, knowledge of mathematics and physics in the scope corresponding to the bachelor level of studies.

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.

The course unit credit requirements:
Presence in the exercise. Presenting a paper and graduation exercises on topics announced by the teacher during the semester. Elaboration of a seminary work on a set topic. Failure to comply with these conditions, the teacher may in justified cases set condition.
If a student gets more than 50 points for activities during a semester, he/she will be suggested a mark and he/she does not have to take an examination. Other students have to take an examination (written and oral). Exam evaluation: excellent (91-100 points), very good (81-90 points), good (71-80 points), satisfactory (61-70 points), sufficient (51-60 points), failed (0-50 points).

Lectures:
1. Basic terminology. Definition and dimension of quality (complete product). Orientation at customer. Determination of priorities. Process approach. Integrated system of process control and development. Six Sigma, Lean Production.
2. Total quality management. Quality and marketing. Quality planning (QFD, FMEA). Environmental and safety limiting conditions of management system.
3. Conformity assessment. Obligatory and optional conformity assessment. EU and Czech legal milieu.
4. Technical standards. Quality as conformity on the interface of processes. Positives of normalized interface. Systems of technical standards. International Standards ISO 9000. Conformity assessment according to ISO 9001.

Seminars:
1. Students‘ presentations and discussion to subjects of lectures.
2. Conformity assessment – Case Studies.

Excursions in the selected company.

The course aims to provide students with the most important theoretical knowledge supplemented by specific examples and methods of application communicated knowledge to understand the importance and challenges of management in the current period. To acquaint students with the requirements of personality and content of managerial work and learn the most important techniques of managerial work. Lead students to acquire the knowledge of the internal and external environment of the organization and learn to use the methods applied in the analysis of external and internal environment. The explanation is also clarifying management development, which is essential for understanding the changes in content management as a professional discipline.
Students will be made familiar with the main tools of modern quality management in the context of environment protection and occupational safety and health protection.

The attendance at seminars is compulsory. Each student must take part in all scored activities. An alternative assignment may be set in order to approve the course and to award the course-unit credit.
